The top and center images were generated with Aladin showing the location of PSN AT2017fif. Note that the DSS shows nothing at the location of PSN AT2017fif whereas the SDSS shows a dim red object. The bottom image is mine and was magnified to the same scale. A dim object is visible at the location of PSN AT2017fif. The brightness of the object seems to be the same as the neighbouring star. The image was taken through thin clouds rolling in.

SDSS classifies the red object at the location of PSN AT2017fif as a galaxy of brightness 22 mag in g-filter. The star has a brightness of 19 mag in g-filter. Thus, PSN AT2017fif had probably the same brightness on July 17, 2017 0h UT.
